Dear Friends,
Welcome to all who have chosen to join my trip to Andalucia this year. I am writing to introduce you to the trip blog. Over the course of the year I will be sending a series of emails with additional information to help you prepare for the trip. This information is also available on my website so you can refer back to it at later date. The e-mail address of the blog is: http://www.jewishjourneysltd.com/blog---extra-information1
I am reposting the last email I sent out to the group with flight details. Many people have asked for the information again, and I think it best to resend it and to post it online so everyone has the information available.
I have just returned from my research trip in the south of Spain and am very pleased to be able to share further information about our trip. The first thing I need to say is how much I enjoyed my time there. The cities are absolutely beautiful; I met some great guides and spent a Shabbat with a small start-up Jewish community in Seville. I spent a lot of time matching the different sites with the texts that I want to teach.
The weather was perfect. The temperatures were in the low twenties and the sky was blue the entire time we were there, in spite of the fact that I was there at the end of November and early December. I am very pleased that I chose to avoid the hot months of the summer and to concentrate the trips in the early spring and late autumn. This promises to be another amazing Jewish Journey!
As a result of my visit I have decided to make a few minor changes to our itinerary. The biggest change is that instead of finishing the trip in Seville on Sunday afternoon I have decided to continue to Malaga and finish the trip there on Sunday evening. The reason for this is that the flight back to London from Seville is too early in the day and I did not want to lose the afternoon. Also, I want to finish the trip at the port in Malaga, which was a place where be exiles left Spain towards the Mediterranean countries at the time of the expulsion in 1492. This is a very suitable place for the last scene in the story of the Jews of Andalucía. From the port we will go straight to Malaga airport.
The trip starts on Tuesday at Malaga airport at 14:00 and will finish on Sunday evening. We will arrive at Malaga airport on Sunday by 19.00.
Recommended Flights:MARCH TRIP: (15-20 March)The best flights from London to fit in with the trip are:
OUT: (15 March) EasyJet: EZY8605 Depart Gatwick 9:35 Arrive Malaga: 13:25
RETURN:(20 March) EasyJet: EZY8610 Depart Malaga 21:10 Arrive Gatwick 23:00.
APRIL TRIP: (5-10 April)The best flights from London to fit in with the trip are:
OUT:(5 April) EasyJet EZY2403 Depart Luton 8:40 Arrive Malaga: 12:30
RETURN:(10 April) EasyJet: EZY2410 Depart Malaga 23:40 Arrive Luton 01:25.
Or:
OUT:(5 April) Ryanair 8162 Depart Stansted 7.25 Arrive Malaga 11:20
RETURN:(10 April) Ryanair 8165 Depart Malaga 21:55 Arrive Stansted 23:55
There are many other flights to and from Malaga. There areEasyjet Flights from Luton and Gatwick, Ryanair flights from Stansted and British Airways flights from Gatwick. Monarchalso flies to Malaga from Luton. These are less frequent in March but there are many alternatives in April. These flights are particularly relevant if you are thinking of extending your trip by either coming early or adding days at the end, as the timing of some of the flights are less convenient for the trip programme.
Those who need to leave early on Sunday might also consider the EasyJet flight from Seville on Sunday afternoon. This flies direct to Gatwick and arrives early – although this would mean that you will miss the final hours of the trip. However, if you intend to extend your trip at the end by spending a few extra days in Seville you should certainly consider this flight back.
Book your flights now ...As the south of Spain is a very popular tourist destination and we will be there in the best season of the year, I advise that you book your flights as soon as possible to get the best prices. If you have any friends who were thinking of joining que on the trip I also advise that they booked their places soon as the trips are filling up very quickly. There are now only a small number of places left on the trip in April.
Once again, thank you for choosing to join me on this Jewish journey. I look forward to spending an amazing time with you in Spain next spring.
Sincerely,
Rabbi Chaim Weiner
